Easy Fixes For Romance on Valentine’s Day

If  you’re struggling with Valentine’s Day duties, know that you’re far from alone. Millions of people are right there with you, rolling their eyes as they come to terms with another holiday and what to do about it. If you’re one of them, you can let all that go. Yes, really! Check out these easy (and mostly inexpensive) ideas to celebrate this year.

Be My Valentine #1:  Cook a Meal

Yes, dinner is awesome, but there are two other meals that happen every day, giving you two extra opportunities to create something awesome with ingredients and fixin’s that you probably already have. Can’t cook? Not a problem anymore – try one of the home delivery options, or order something from your favorite restaurant and have that delivered. Fix a pretty table (or spread a picnic blanket in the room of your choosing…), add a glass of wine or a couple of beers, and you’re good to go.

Be My Valentine #2:  Gift of Time

Everybody has at least one or two ‘things’ that need some one-on-one attention. Giving somebody the precious gift of time to help with those ‘things’ can be life-changing. Consider how you can help the loved ones in your life: maybe taking a scenic drive or a visit to a favored place, helping with the laundry or other ‘honey-do’ activities, offering assistance with a loved hobby or project, or one of my favorites, taking the kids (at the perfect time that I get to choose…) when some alone time is the thing.

Be My Valentine #3: Spoil & Pamper

Not everybody wants a manicure, but there are tons of services available to give your loved ones the attention they crave. How about a massage (at your place or theirs…), a spa treatment, or an afternoon with the favored hair stylist to revel in a plethora of done-for-you services? If the personal touch isn’t the right thing, consider hiring a limo or other transportation specialist. An old boss of mine hired a personal assistant for his wife for a week, and another friend hired a team of guys who cleaned out the garage and created the space for her husband’s desperately wanted ‘man-cave’.

Be My Valentine #4: Alone Time

It’s a busy world, and more and more individuals are struggling to find the time they need to re-juice. Committing to providing the back-end support so that your loved one can indulge in…whatever the heck they want to indulge in…can be priceless. Binge on a Netflix® series without sharing your favorite snack? Go for it. Be a couch potato and sleep all day? You’re allowed. Order a pizza that only you like? DO IT!!!!!

Be My Valentine #5: Movie Night

Grab a bunch of pillows, pull out the sofa-bed, some warm blankets, drinks and munchies, and have a blast. Turn off the phones, turn down the lights and turn up the volume, and, voila – you’re at the movies. The catch? Choosing the movie or show that you both really want to see…
